I used to struggle with time management as a data scientist. In fact, sometimes I still do.

It’s not just about getting more done in less time. It’s about ensuring that your time is spent effectively and productively.

However, many data scientists fall into common time management traps. These traps can subtly sneak into our routines, making us less efficient without us even realizing it.

To help you navigate these pitfalls, here are three mistakes you should avoid to become more efficient in your job and life.

Mistake 1: Multitasking

Multitasking might seem like an efficient way to get more done in less time, but it’s often not the case. When you switch between tasks, it takes time for your brain to refocus, which can lead to errors and decreased productivity.

Solution: Prioritize your tasks and focus on one thing at a time. Use techniques like the Pomodoro Technique, where you work for a set amount of time (like 25 minutes) then take a short break (like 5 minutes).
